I wish that the SPCA could use its influence to persuade their partner, Petcetera, to stop selling rabbits

Get your rabbit starter kit! It only costs $79.99

Of course you now need a rabbit to occupy the cage. There are a wide variety of animals available for purchase.

If you prefer, you can adopt an animal through the PAWS programme. The BC SPCA cooperates with Petcetera on this project.

"Our goal for the year 2008 alone, is to raise over $750,000 and find homes for over 7,500 cats and dogs. In addition to supporting the adoption facilities, we look forward to continuing to partner with the S.P.C.A. Animal Shelters and Humane Societies to support their Pet Walkathon fund raising events, in every major city from B.C. to Newfoundland."

I wish that the SPCA could use its influence to persuade their partner, Petcetera, to stop selling rabbits. At least the SPCA could insist that Petcetera spay and neuter them before they are sold. The SPCA might have enough clout to do this if they pushed the issue.

The two rabbits our neighbour purchased at Petcetera for his children's enjoyment in the fall both escaped. I was behind him in the checkout line when he made the purchase. I tried to explain to him why this was not a good idea- sigh. All that is left is an empty hutch and an overturned water bowl in the deluxe rabbit palace constructed for them. That's the fate of the hapless rabbits in our uncaring society. Petcetera must know what will happen to many of the rabbits it sells.
