Only the TIP of the iceberg

Quoting Jean, "Petcetera must know what will happen to many of the rabbits it sells." OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND is the best way we can sum it up.

They also sell hamsters, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, mice, rats, gerbils, chilnchillas, degus etc etc.

We (SARS BC) get the dumped or pregnant or the offspring of the pregnant animals PetCetera sold.

We are often overwhelmed by the amount of small animals coming in from PetCetera. They don't care what happens to the animals after they make a sale.

Refund is one of our chinchillas. I named her refund as she was brought back to PC by her buyers because she had an eye problem....they told her they had *no record* of her and they could not help her.

So needless to say we ended up with the chinchilla and the vet bill.

We call degus dumpster pets because many we have had brought in were dumped in garbage skips or simply released.

Small animals are too easy to *dispose* of - no one really knows or see them until they are too sick and then are found and brought to us.

I wish that the SPCA could use its influence to persuade their partner, Petcetera, to stop selling rabbits
