SPCA is also at fault on cat shelter complaints

Re: Cat shelter head charged with cruelty, March 27

I have been a B.C. SPCA supporter for years and years, but I am disgusted that its officials have charged Penny March, the director of Forgotten Felines, with animal cruelty. March will take in and care for cats that society dumps on her, cats that other shelters won't accept because they're too old or too sick. I can just imagine how overwhelming a task that must be when every resource, including money, is in short supply. This woman is doing her best to keep these animals alive.

I would think the SPCA would offer this shelter free veterinary care and food for the cats; after all, its purpose is to help animals. Shame on SPCA officials for charging a woman with animal cruelty for trying to make a better world for old and sick cats, cats that the SPCA might euthanize.
