Do local branches have their own bank accounts? Do local branches have officers with signing authority? To my knowledge, the answer to both those questions is NO. As usual, funds will be sent to Head Office and then directed to the branch. Even if the total raised in the area is returned to the local branch, that branch will not necessarily benefit from "extra" funds for the animals because Head Office will adjust the overall funds budgeted to that branch accordingly.

In the Vernon Branch area the BC SPCA has always claimed that fundraising proceeds will stay in the community. After all, Head Office knows that you have to tell potential donors what they want to hear.
