First of all, they, and other "family" breed dogs, are not high on the only bite stats lists that matter: fatal and severe biting. Every dog has bitten someone at some time, but these lapses are not "proof" of anything as they are either harmless or are not repeated.
And secondly, it would be odd if these family breeds did not show up on bite stats lists - they are owned possibly 10 times more frequently than the breeds that do attack and kill. If Goldens were as dangerous as Pit Bulls, they would be killing 10 times as many children, but of course, they aren't.
