I have seen that the BC SPCA's Behavioural Assessment Tests do not work. I am a nurse in an emergency ward, and I can attest that a dog who was adopted by the BC SPCA to a new home two weeks ago, who seriously bit a four year old child on the face, was not a safe dog. The child was part of the family who adopted this dog, and now the child is severely injured and the dog euthanised. Quick behavioural tests cannot safely take the place of getting to know the dog and of thoughtful placement in individually selected and screened homes with back-up training and handling by reputable dog behaviourists. The SPCA is playing fast and loose with the lives of children with its test. In my opinion, the test is there to protect the SPCA, not the public, or dogs.
