When the cat was brought into the shelter....the smell of rotting or decaying tissue.....made them all come to the kennel to smell it....did this with all the volunteers. The cat was placed into the cat room where..

.. Nothing was done Sat or Sun. Finally Mon....there was a note asking that one of the volunteers give the kitten a bath. ....went to its kennel which was now in the iso room. The kennel was covered in blood.. ...began to pull all the matted excrement and litter from its fur....started to bathe it....The water immediately turned red & brown and then maggots started falling from the kitten.

..turned it over and began to wash around its belly and rectum...was the hair pulling apart was actually in fact the skin ripping apart...was able to see the tail vertebrae. The kittens head started to droop...asked a volunteer to come and hold up the head.

....and reported the incident...asked if...immediately take it to the AEC...see if someone from Vancouver could come in to pick it up. As we were speaking more maggots fell off the cat....After about 30 to 45 minutes...took the kitten

to the AEC. It had no blood pressure and was in shock by then. It was then transferred to the SPCA clinic the next day and was HD’d a few days later.....

Was she given the five essential freedoms? Was she free of pain, distress or discomfort?
