Just this October we received reports from two Victoria SPCA volunteers of similar neglect of animals

I wish I could say that the Burnaby SPCA is an isolated, terrible, awful incident and that is old history, but I can't. Just this October we received reports from two Victoria SPCA volunteers of similar neglect of animals. One example was of a cat that had not eaten all week and when a volunteer removed the cat from it’s hidey box a huge abscess burst. The cat was allowed to suffer and then it was killed. The volunteers write that animal neglect at the Victoria SPCA is not uncommon. The bladder of a cat whose urinary tract was blocked, burst. No urine in the litter tray should have been noted and acted on. A cat, after days of being unable to open one eyelid, was discovered by a volunteer to have an ulcerated eye.

The volunteers wrote these concerns and others that describe a dysfunctional branch to BC SPCA head office. The volunteers were dismissed. As usual, the animal disposers' jobs are protected by the SPCA and the animal welfarists are got rid of one way or another.

Every volunteer who sees what was seen at the Burnaby and Victoria SPCAs must document and report and must make their reports public, if, as they claim, they want to help animals. Only by telling the truth about the SPCA has any improvement taken place and will any further improvement happen. The SPCA has never acted, only reacted.
