Will the SPCA ever educate where it is most desperatly needed - the immigrant groups? *LINK* *PIC*

Carol Sonnex pointed out that the SPCA's "education" is aimed at the children of white parents who are already educated, so it is cannot be about education, it is about donations. The SPCA has never spent money educating where the need is greatest, in fact where it is horrifying, the Chinese, Korean, Indo Canadian, Vietnamese, and Filipino immigrant groups. Is that because none of them are likely to give the SPCA any money?

The abuse by immigrants in Vancouver especially is staggering. An old small dog in cage in an unheated shed, covered in feces, crying piteously for years, a Jack Russell in a cage in an apartment, are yesterday's reports. There are rotties and pit bulls chained up all over, frequently by members of the Indo Canadian community. When the SPCA was phoned about the dog in the shed, the complainant was told to call the local pound. The SPCA gets a lot of press for its seizure of the mother of abandoned pups, after the police and others are involved, but when no one but the compainant knows, cruelty reports are often ignored or off-loaded onto pounds which have no mandate to prevent cruelty and the complainant gives up and the dog's suffering goes on.

AAS has spent thousands of its tiny budget to try to educate where it will do some good for animals, not just ourselves. When we approached the leaders of the Chinese community in Vancouver, we were told that it can't be true that the majority of cruelty to dogs in Vancouver was by Chinese immigrants, because the SPCA had never mentioned it to them. and of course we were accused of being racist. Distorting the truth with insults won't change the truth. SPCA leaders admitted to AAS that the majority of abuse of dogs is by immigrants, but they won't do anything about it. They're busy feathering their own nest by "educating" white children on how to keep little captive animals like rabbits and hamsters in cages.
