Last night I checked a few of the Petfinder sites for some Lower Mainland SPCAs, and the differences in how they write about the dogs and what their needs are is astonishing compared with before. It sounds like each dog is seen by a trainer, and the write-ups are now acknowledging issues some of the dogs have. I also found lots of examples where it said "will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption". As well, a friend of mine adopted a dog from the Burnaby SPCA last week, and although a home check was not done, she said the staff were thorough in asking her questions, and she had several phone calls from different people verifying what she had said in her application. I was pleased to see they didn't just hand the dog over like they may have done in the past. It is certainly encouraging to see some positive steps like these from the BCSPCA.

Yes - it is what the SPCA's competition and critics have always done

I hope the SPCA goes even further and makes sure that dogs are not being left outside and tethered 24/7
