Having lived on a Reserve for a year I saw first hand what the Natives did to the dogs. I was absolutely horrified, especially since there were alternatives to the mass murders. The natives believe this controls dog populations, but it does not, as WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) has proven. I think they also enjoy the bloodsport, as they are paid an average of $20 for each dog's tail they bring to the Band Office. I tried to introduce educational material into the classroom (my husband was a teacher at the First Nation school) but it went unheeded. A letter to the Chief and Council went unanswered. I can only assume that they do not care about animals. The false statements First Nations make about 'respecting all animals' is just so much lip service. Why are they allowed to do this? They do NOT respect animal. That is a FACT. Newspapers are reluctant to touch this subject.

When are people going to be less concerned with political correctedness and do the right thing? This needs to be published in as many newspapers as we can! I could only save two dogs when I left; one has been adopted into a loving home; the other one I kept, and he is a darling guy who is learning to walk through doors and is not afraid of men and other dogs anymore.

These people need to learn animal care, they should be required to have their dogs spayed/neutered or they should not be allowed to keep animals. Period.

BC SPCA has done almost nothing. They are very good at looking the other way while these beautiful dogs are shot, drowned or clubbed to death. In fact, I am one of the people the SPCA has lied to. I was told by the SPCA that it can't go on a Reserve without the band's permission when I reported serious abuse of animals.

When non-natives are found to be abusive to animals, the right to have an animal is taken from them, is it not? The PCA Act covers Reserves; this same Act should apply to them. They should not be above the law.

I walked past one house 2 days in a row where a dog had starved to death and was still chained, left to rot
The SPCA won't... Native leaders won't... animal rescuers are left to helplessly witness the horror
All the neutered dogs were shot because they weren't "real" dogs
Yet the SPCA is still telling people who try to report abused and neglected animals on Reserves that it can't go on a Reserve
I tried last year to get the SPCA to go to a reserve in Chilliwack to investigate what was thought to be pitbull fighting
