If I can arrange a quaint "ethnic" bear-baiting contest would you like to come and check it out for the CBC?

Mr. Cluff. If I can arrange a quaint "ethnic" bear-baiting contest here in Toronto, or maybe a cock fight or two, would you like to come and check it out for the CBC? Maybe you could do a "spot" on goose-stuffing and pate de foie gras. You know, my ancestors used to race down from the hills swinging their claymores and slaughter each other over an acre of land or a cow, but we don't do that stuff anymore. Since we used to treat other human beings this way, I shudder to think how animals were treated back in the good old days. Did you know that once a year in mid eighteenth century Paris, cats were rounded up, put in iron cages and burned alive? Until recently, goats, lambs and other farm animals were thrown from a church belfry in a quaint town in southern Spain as part of an annual festival. Fortunately, we have moved into the 21st century and our thinking reflects that fact. What is it about cruel treatment of animals and abuse of our wild life that affords such merriment over at CBC headquarters ?? Slaughtering bears for their gallbladders, chopping legs off bald eagles for Indian dances, bashing seals over the head to give our "quaint" Newfoundlanders something to do in early Spring etc, all these disgusting acts are treated with mind boggling equanimity by our Liberal Elite Media, (provided the "cruelty du jour" is practiced by some group with psychic affluence, of course). This pathetic desire to appear "accepting", "tolerant" or that horrible word, "comfortable", with the sufferings of creatures which cannot speak for themselves, all in the name of respecting people's cultural idiosyncrasies, really makes me nauseous. Please grow up and rethink some of your very backward attitudes about our relationship with other living creatures.

I personally don't find it amusing to see any creatures suffering for the sake of "freshness" be it chickens, ducks or EVEN EELS
