As long as humans keep overbreeding, every other species is going to finally be pushed out of their homes and only those that are kept in zoos and can successfully breed (make money), will survive. That is what is happening now and there isn't any reason to believe that it is going to change. We're going to do the same to the oceans and the air. Finally, every other species will be controlled by humans, including all the insects and bacteria. It's not that we are more terrible than any other species, it's that we have the intelligence to dominate. Every species would behave just the same. We are watching evolution in progress - from the creation of millions of species that more or less lived in balance to the inevitable emergence of one species that is the most intelligent, creating a new balance, that of one species completely dominating all the others. To evolution, this is neither good or bad, it just is.

If we survive our old-brain predilection to violence and don't nuke ourselves into extinction, and we aren't wiped out by an asteroid, one day everything, including death, will be under our control. We're watching this happen in science and medicine. We're watching this happen as one species after another reaches the brink of extinction. It's how it works - we're just in the middle of it.
