I have mixed feelings about this new program
In Response To: Victoria SPCA SOS Program ()

I am thrilled that dogs would have the opportunity of leaving the shelter everyday but I am also worried about the psychological damage of attachment that may surface.

Without doubt, after 30 days of providing loving care (min. commitment) if the family decided not to go and pick up Rover for the over night visit, I can only imagine that depression would set in. Additionally, I have concerns that if the "SOS foster family" views certain needs for the dog, one example being medical care, and the SPCA does not agree then what happens?? If the dog is deemed by the SOS family to require special food and the "SOS foster family" starts providing this in the evening, but the SPCA does not/cannot during the day what affects may this have on the animal?? Also if the dog has a special toy, blanket, ball, etc. at the "SOS foster families" home will these comforts be allowed to go with the animal during the day.....just a few concerns and maybe they are more emotional than logical but they are there....
