I ask the "conscientious carnivore", if she or he finds cannibalism abhorrent? I am really interested in the answers to this question.
A number of years ago a young soccer team was stranded in the Andes when their plane crash-landed. Some of them ate portions of the bodies of those who had died. They survived. Was their eating of meat, in this situation, morally repugnant? Were they "conscientious carnivores"? No. A situation like this one is the only time one can be a conscientious carnivore.
It is a sad commentary on the human-animal state of affairs, when kindness and compassion are radical ideas! A world where a child dies every two seconds is directly related to the "conscientious carnivore".
