The online replies to the article are disheartening as I can't quite understand the lack of empathy for other living beings.
Obviously trying to have someone feel for another living being is futile.
I guess the UVic students got what they wanted - publicity and now some rabbits will die to pay the price.

Judging by the above comments, it is clear that trying to have people view things from a perspective outside of their own egocentric view is a futile exercise.
From the above comments, it obvious that people are the only *LIVING* being on this planet that matter. If a human goes without then it by all means justifies the pain, suffering & slaughter of any other living being.
Human beings should be thankful they are in this position to be able to be able to decide who anthropomorphizes and who doesn't, who gets to live and who doesn't, who gets to suffer with no voice understandable to our own ears and who doesn't. Until no humans suffer on this earth any longer, let's let all other living beings pay the price.
Now if that isn't selfish I don't know what is.
