Please let Petland know that you are horrified about the fact that not only do they remain the only national pet retailer that still sells rabbits, but that their employees, with the encouragement of their managers, sadistly torture and kill rabbits at work. Update 8/5: In response to this horrifying incident, Petland has terminated the store owner's franchise agreement. Effective immediately, the store is closed and will not reopen. However, letters and phone calls are still needed letting Petland know that rabbit lovers, and animal lovers, will not shop at Petland, as long as they continue to sell rabbits, and rabbit suffering. While this incident may have been "isolated," as Petland says, it is clearly a symptom of a larger problem of a national chain store selling animals, and dealing with animals who are "problems." In addition, Elizabeth Carlisle is being prosecuted for animal cruelty. We will post updates about this case as we receive them.
