Animal Advocates Watchdog

The city is not calling Trevor a dangerous dog" (!!). Ah...Thank you!

Bark, bark, bark, and wag, wag your tail!

Thanks for a second chance (News, August 10).

Trevor, the dog, has been saved from lethal injection at the Whitehorse City Pound so he can have his behaviour assessed by someone qualified to do so. This is a victory for those who can't speak for themselves to tell their own stories. Non-human animals such as Trevor all have stories to tell which mostly never get heard (until now).

Sitting in the court room, it was interesting to watch as the lawyer for Bylaw Services backed-off from their dubious multiple attack case to two documented cases, and what was really interesting is seeing the City lawyer Lori Lavoie say, "Not that we are saying Trevor is a dangerous dog; the city is not calling Trevor a dangerous dog" (!!). Ah...Thank you!

Before the hearing in the court room, a CBC reporter quietly asked Bylaw Services manager John Taylor: "Is he still barking?" (I assume they were refering to Trevor). Mr.Taylor burst-out laughing. Oh yes, bark away, Trevor! You will again live to bark, bark, bark another day; get to go for walks; get the TLC you deserve, and yah, wag, wag, wag your tail again and again.

Many thanks to all the wonderful humans all over the world who showed their support for Trevor. Special Thank You to Rachel Westfall, who speaking for the Humane Society Yukon made a case for the rational thinking judge Mr. Wong. The judge chose to extend Trevor's stay of execution and return Trevor to the humane society for a formal assessment.

A special, special thank you goes out to Mr. Kevin Sinclair. If it weren't for Kevin, Trevor would have been killed last week. Kevin deserves all the credit for getting his story heard in court. You saved Trevor's life, man!

Trevor: wag, wag, wag your tale; you are a good boy!
