Why is Trevor being dragged through the courts? Whiehorse Star, Oct 16

Trevor's fourth court hearing will be on Oct 20. His fate may be decided then.

Even though it has been established and is on public record that the Humane Society Yukon is the official "owner" of Trevor by court order, Bylaw continues to have a grip on Trevor's life-- the death grip!

And even though the Whitehorse City lawyer Lori Lavoie said in court: "Not that we are saying Trevor is a dangerous dog; the city is not calling Trevor a dangerous dog". So why is Trevor's life still being dragged through the courts? Why was Bylaw intent on killing Trevor, when there are many other cases of dogs biting people and Bylaw has not imposed death on those dogs? Two examples of this have been presented to the judge and are now on public record.

Local dog trainers have been working with Trevor and they vouch the fact that he is a wonderful, trainable, fine dog. I have been taking Trevor to my home regularly. I have now walked him, ran him using my bike amongst people, dogs, and traffic, and walked him in the woods many times now. He truly is adjusting well with these activities, despite his history of abuse and the ongoing restrictions--muzzle, three foot leash and spending most of his day in a tiny cage.

Bylaw knows very well that there are onging cases of neglect and abuse out there, and I believe addressing these issues is where they need to put much of their energy. Not killing animals! Bylaw can perhaps work with the Yukon's Animal Protection Officer on this, since nobody wants this crisis to continue. Right? After all, if we want to reduce dog incidents, we need to address the root of the problem--humans.

It's time to protect the Trevors of this world from the evils that humans do.

It is past time for the humane approach!
