Support for a northern Saskatchewan dog cull is coming from an unlikely place - the Saskatoon SPCA. Talk of a cull comes after a ten year old boy was killed by a pack of dogs Saturday on the Canoe Lake First Nation.

Tiffany Koback, the Saskatoon SPCA shelter director, says something has to be done to get populations of roaming dogs under control. If that means rounding up and shooting the animals - so be it.

"If these dogs are unmanageable, then humane euthanasia would be one answer," Koback said. She doesn't object to shooting the animals as long as its done in a humane way with minimal pain, suffering, and distress.

"If nothing is done to get the population under control, your just going to look at it compounding itself year over year as the animals reproduce."
