Whistler Dogsledding started as a retirement home for dogs

well, everything you say in your post is absolutely untrue. First, if you are from California, you should do some research on what an Alaskan Racing Husky is. You cant think of them like you would think of your regular house pet. Whistler Dogsledding started as a retirement home for dogs, some of them were brought from way up north where they are used to see 5 maybe 6 people in 1 year. If they shy away, it doesnt mean they beat them up or that they are really scared, its just their personality, that simple. You should work with those dogs every day, then they might warm up to you, but if they dont roll around so you can rub their belly like your friendly neighbor's dog, just means you shouldnt try to impose yourself to that dog, just let him be. Second, of course is the breed showing through them!!! if they look bony, it doesnt mean ANYTHING! could be a million things!!!!!!! dont just asume that they are being treated in a cruel way! and if the dogs dont wanna run well.... like I said before, they are like people, do you feel like going to work everyday???? do you feel like cooking dinner everyday???? do you feel like doing the things you do EVERYDAY? sometimes these dogs are the same, they are just not into it, 1st run of the day, or last run of the day. doesnt mean they dont love it. I know you were there for a tour, but if you volunteered for 1 or 2 days in a kennel, you would see that as soon as they are harnessed, they are hard to keep from running! You might think this might be cruel in some way, dogsledding that is, but to us dog lovers, cruel is to have a pet like many many many many people do, just because he is cute, leaving him to run all day in the backyard thinking that is the perfect excercise and never taking him outside of the house. I think is cruel that people buy all sorts of crap for their dogs or put them in a dog beauty pageant or something.... THATS CRUEL. Dogs have no idea aboiut all that stuff, all the animals need is food, shelter, water, REAL excersice and love. THATS IT. I think next time you take your vacation you should either do a lot of research on your activities or maybe just stay in your hotel room.
