What the SPCA doesn't say about its partnership with the biggest seller of unsterilized rabbits
In Response To: SPCA P.R. on UVic rabbits ()

From the SPCA's May 14, 2010 press release about the UVic rabbit overpopulation problem: "Last year Kelowna faced a similar situation with 800 feral rabbits in the city."

What the SPCA doesn't say:

The slaughter of 400-500 rabbits in Kelowna in 2008 by a company that used bolt guns and stomping to kill the rabbits at the same time that the SPCA's business partner, the Kelowna Petcetera, continued to sell unsterilized rabbits, the source of the problem and therefore the source of the cruelty and the killing.

Far from ending the partnership with Petcetera, the SPCA actually continued to have a business relationship with Petcetera at least until June 2009. That a self-styled animal welfare organization had a business connection to the cause of a problem which is attracting much media attention and concern from animal lovers, which it then profits from with self-promoting press releases, is very murky indeed.
