New Direction For BCSPCA

I find it odd that the head of the BCSPCA's Union, Jeff Lawson, tries to put a negative spin on the positive changes that are happening with the SPCA. He, along with other SPCA employees, suggest that the SPCA is moving away from animal protection, when in fact it is the complete opposite. It is the SPCA's pound contracting business that has been keeping them from doing the welfare work which the public has been begging them to do for years. I would think Mr.Lawson and others, would be pleased now that staff will have the time to put into the rewarding and necessary work that the SPCA was founded to do over 100 years ago. Municipalities who have opted out of their SPCA contracts and run their own pounds, like Coquitlam and North Vancouver, have been proven a total success.
We don't need SPCA's in every area to do animal control, we need them to do cruelty investigations, humane work, and education. Bravo to the BCSPCA for moving in this positive new direction.
