SPCA staff- what type of person can do the job of animal disposal?

Decades of allowing itself to profit from the twin evils of pound contracting and open surrender have resulted in the SPCA becoming society's pet disposer. What kind of person could possibly want to be paid to be part of this?

Society in general mistakenly pities the SPCA staff member who takes a paycheque for helping to dispose of or resell society's cast-off pets under the guise of animal welfare.

But what kind of person could do this job? Not a true animal lover, no more than any person who loves children could work at an orphange that sold children to unscreened and possibly unfit parents, or killed children who were ugly or had psychological problems or bad temperaments.

Once one has met enough SPCA staff, it becomes clear that part of the SPCA's reform process must involve divesting itself of the type of people they paid for decades to do society's dirty work. These people are not animal lovers, they are:

People who keep unaltered dogs and breed them.

People who euthanize their own dogs because the dogs are unaltered and are therefore fighting.

People whose advice to a young couple that work full time and recently "adopted" a young, large active dog from the SPCA who is now going beserk with boredom because he is left alone all day, is to "crate him", or to get another dog and leave them both outside.

People who casually brush off the routine killing of litters and litters of kittens born to feral moms because after 48 hours in an SPCA cage, they weren't socialized.

These are the "animal lovers" that the SPCA has depended on to carry out pet disposal for decades. If the SPCA truly intends to get out of pet disposal (pound contracting and open surrender) and into honest animal welfare, it needs to get rid of this type of employee and rehire those staff (and there are many) who were fired for caring too much, or who simply quit because they loved animals and couldn't stand to take a paycheque to dispose of them daily.
