Now that one of their own has been attacked, will the SPCA finally show interest in the expanding yard/guard dog business?

On Wednesday, June 18th, a commercial guard dog seriously attacked an SPCA employee. (See Questions raised after dog attack: next post)

Will the SPCA now take an interest in this business of hiring loaded guns to put in yards? It didn't as long as IT wasn't harmed, but perhaps now it will.

Will the City of Vancouver do anything to ban the commercial guard dog business? It didn't do anything to stop the keeping of private yard/guard dogs, not even after AAS gave it a report with the expert opinion and statistics that proved that yard/guard dogs are a serious potential public safety threat, especially for children; and not even after Shenica White was mauled. (The AAS report with 39 photostories: http://www.animaladvocates.com/ItsTime.htm ).

The SPCA has not acted to protect these dogs from the cruel lives they suffer and the City has not acted to protect its citizens.

We wonder what it will take for these two to do more than talk for years about "education" (never produced) and "raising the bar on cruelty investigations" (not done).

AAS has been steadily and without cease, running expensive ads out of our tiny budget about these dogs, visiting them to photograph and document their misery, rehabilitating the ones we are able to help, writing reports, begging the City and the SPCA to help them, and to prevent another Shenica White...or worse.
