If you have any influence with the BC SPCA policy makers, please tell them that the Vernon SPCA needs to do pre-adoption s/n. If they can't afford to do that, then they've got to increase adoption prices to include the total cost of the surgery. A $25 deposit on a surgery which costs from $144 [ male dog under 10 kg.] to $231 [ female dog over 40 kg. ] is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. A $40 deposit on a cat is not much better when fees range from $91.90 [ male cat ] to $167.30 [mature female ]. [Of course the costs are even more should a female be in heat or pregnant!] SPCA animals in Vernon are being adopted by people who will never be able to afford S/N, booster shots or any other future veterinary care their animal might need. This is not in the best interests of the animal!
