The Kamloops SPCA has been killing adoptable animals for space for years. During her time as an employee, Bonnie Bischoff was one of the people responsible for selecting the animals to be killed. Bischoff is no longer employed by the SPCA however she is now a member of their CAC and earlier this year was elected to the BC SPCA's provincial board of directors.
While Jeni Mason may have spoken out at the BC SPCA AGM on Saturday, what most people don't know is the Kamloops SPCA has done very little to spearhead any spay/neuter awareness campaigns in their community. Furthermore they have done very little to promote their PAL (Prevent-A-Litter) Program, a program which provides financial assistance for low income pet owners who cannot afford the cost to spay & neuter their pets. Most of the PR done by the Kamloops SPCA is related to fundraising and begging for donations.
Mason says the Kamloops SPCA is euthanizing animals for space. It's easy to identify a problem however it takes more than concern and talk to solve the problem. FYI - Mason had no intention of continuing in her role with the BC SPCA's board of directors. She was only there temporarily to fill the vacancy created when Pat Cutler resigned last year.
