Timeline of the following SPCA-related events:

1) Euthanasia of dogs at Vancouver SPCA which outraged volunteers January 24th and 25th. Volunteers did not go to VTV until AFTER the Scarlet seizure, late Feb or early March. On March 12th it was discussed on the Bill Good radio show.

2) SPCA seizure of Scarlet the rotti on Vancouver Island Feb 22/02

3) Public announcement of euthanasia moratorium, voted on Mar 2/02, announced Mar 5th

4) Recent announcement of changes to the euthanasia moratorium. There have been many tweakings including newspaper interviews with Dr. Lawson (Maple Ridge July 2/02) and Kamloops SPCA shelter manager Jennifer Gore, July 3/02

5) Kelowna SPCA seizure of 53 dogs. Global TV covered the story on July 5th.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a bit of a correlation between the negative SPCA issues vs. the timing of the more positive and publicized issues, i.e. Scarlett & dogs seized in Kelowna? Maybe I'm reading something more into this and maybe not, but the SPCA is very good at manipulating the media/public.

As for Lawson's article (Maple Ridge July 2) and Gore's article (Kamloops July 3) I'm wondering if a press release was sent by head office to all media or were individual branches instructed by head office to contact the media about the moratorium changes? If neither, then it's quite a coincidence considering both articles were done a day apart and in two different parts of the province. Although there is some similarity in what Gore and Lawson said about the changes to the moratorium, their personalized comments speak volumes, i.e. product and shelter care don't they?
