The Salt Spring Island SPCA is small and deals only with cats and rabbits.

It used to foster cats for women who were staying at the local Transition House.

In the summer of 2003 I received a call from a Transition House worker asking me to foster one of the resident's cats. I referred her to the SPCA, but she said that she had just spoken with the shelter manager who had informed her that the rules had changed and that the SPCA no longer fostered cats.

They certainly don't advertise their "rule changes" - not when it won't benefit them financially.
