More misinformation about DTA4 from Lorie Chortyk

"She (Lorie Chortyk) added the SPCA's assessment program is a 10-STEP process which takes about TWO HOURS hours and has been scientifically-proven over a seven-year study. "

NO Scientific proof about DTA4 has been made available to anyone to evaluate here in BC. It would be nice if Lorie could get the information correct.

The copy of DTA4 that I have seen says -
Page 69 of the DTA4 Manual under
Section 3.1.1 Test Protocol States: "TESTING TAKES ABOUT 15 MINUTES."

On page 71:
"Test 1: Stare at dog from outside kennel. The test lasts for 1minute"
"Test 2: Enter kennel & ignore dog. Do this for 1 minute"
"Test 3: Groom & Handle dog. For approx 2 minutes"
"Test 4: Show leash: 30 seconds"
"Test 5: Put leash on dog. "
"Test 6: Walk dog outdoors: Let him eliminate and then take dog on short walk: (2 minutes)"
"Test 7: Play tug of war: Ignore for 2 minutes, then try to play tug of war with the dog. After 2-3 minutes put the lead back on the dog and return to kennels"
"Test 8: Meet other dogs. After Test 7 walk the dog passed as many of the other kennelled dogs as are available.

And that's the whole and complete test. It sure doesn't come anywhere near 2 hours unless they count the time to fill in the paper work and the assessors are very, very slow writers!

(Oh, and there are only 8 TESTS, not 10!) in DTA4!

It should also be kept in mind that Test 2 states: "Perform this test only if the dog showed no offensive aggression in Test 1."
(In that case the whole DTA4 assessment would be a total of 1 minute!)
