Thank you for sharing your experience and commitment to the successful rescue of Gotza. Several very special people like yourself have told me that although they also had to leave a suffering animal behind for one reason or another, they had made a quiet promise to remember and to come back to save the precious life of that same animal. Each time their promise was kept, regardless of how much time had passed before they could return. They too spoke of the memory which surfaced daily, never leaving their mind.

There are so many others like Gotza who deserve someone to come along who will not forget. Not all are chained outdoors, isolated and unprotected from the severe living conditions that Mother Nature can bring. Many are in indoor or outdoor cages or runs, in SPCAs and pounds, terrified by the presence of strangers or constant noise from their fellow inmates.

Confused and often ignored, many are doing whatever they feel they must in order to survive. Others suffer in silent depression as they desperately long for the return of their lifelong human companion. Their life, day after day, is very different from the life that Gotza experienced as a prisoner on the end of a chain.

Those animals however, need to be remembered in the same way that Gotza was. They also need to be rescued from their own prison by someone who notices, makes a promise and returns, providing them the safety and assurance that they will never again return to the prison they knew. We who have made silent promises do not need to fulfil that promise alone. Those who have offered to help understand more than words can express that we never want an opportunity to keep the promise we made slip away.

There are more of us, waiting and ready to help than you could ever imagine. Keep that thought forever in your mind as well
