"THE CHEECH INCIDENT" stops the SPCA from killing Buddy

As far as long-time SPCA watchers know, this is the first time that an appeal of this kind from the SPCA, "desperate" for a home for one particular dog, (appeal is below) has ever been made by the SPCA.

Why now? Why this dog?

The "Why now?" can be answered by the "Cheech Incident", played out in the fascinated media in all its stark revelations of SPCA real policies and lies http://www.animaladvocates.com/CHEECH/CheechMediaPage.htm ,and then by AAS posts encouraging more brave volunteers and staff to "do a Cheech" for other dogs that the SPCA is readying to kill. We urged them to walk out with the dog, get it into a safe house, and then contact the media.

"Why this dog?" Because Buddy is being tracked by volunteers who began posting their fears for him on the Brindleweb site (See sub-post).

It looked like the P.R. nightmare that the SPCA created for itself by insisting it had to kill Cheech was going to happen again for Buddy. And this time the media is fully-informed about all the ways the SPCA lies about its "tests". AAS has made sure of that.

Speaking publicly on the internet, loudly, and bravely, is the way AAS tackled the SPCA's dishonesty five years ago. This amazing movement spread to others doing real animal welfare, just as we hoped it would. And now it cannot be stopped.

For every Cheech and Buddy, everyone has to be as brave as Amanda Muir, Kirsten McConnell, and Troy Hannepin, everyone has to keep watching, keep publicly reporting, keep signing your name. Finally, the SPCA will have nowhere to run but to real animal welfare if we all will not be silenced.

Subject: Seeking Help for Buddy

Hi folks,
Please accept my apologies if this doesn't relate to your region - we wanted to get a message out quickly regarding a dog in the Lower Mainland, but we're unable to pull only LM email addresses from our Fasttrack database.

We are desperately looking for a foster home for a 2 ½ year old shepherd/lab cross named Buddy. Buddy was classified as adoptable in April. He has not adapted to the shelter and is now suffering from very poor welfare. He was fostered in June in a household with two young children. He was returned for being destructive when left alone (separation anxiety). He is now showing some defensive aggression (not pertaining to his temperament) and his welfare continues to deteriorate due to the long-term confinement. He would greatly benefit from spending time in a foster home that can provide separation anxiety therapy, de-stressing exercises and some basic obedience for mental stimulation. The use of Dog Appeasing Pheromones is also recommended.

If you or anyone you know might be able to help Buddy, we would love to hear from you as soon as possible. Please call Nadine Gourkow at 604.709.6714.Thank you!
