The SPCA appears to be driven by fear of more horrible P.R. like the media-swarming that happened because of Cheech. And we know it is angry that in posts AAS urged SPCA volunteers to "do a Cheech" and remove a dog they think may be close to being killed, get it to a safe home, and then call the media, because it has made these posts part of its defamation claim against AAS in Supreme Court. In fact, we specifically urged volunteers to save Buddy.

In areas where the media is watching the SPCA like a pack of wolves waiting for a slip, the SPCA appears to be scared witless to kill a dog. But in other areas of the province where the media is still gullible, killing nice dogs for space instead of applying animal welfare remediation, is still going on.

Being driven by its critics and by fear to change and at last do some animal welfare is not acceptable change to AAS. Fear-based change only lasts as long as the fear does. Change at the BC SPCA must be driven by principle. Current (and past) directors and executive have chosen so many unprincipled actions and policies, that AAS no longer holds out any hope of acceptable reform from them and will be urging the Provincial government to dissolve the board and install a new board.
