4.5 ACCOUNTABILITY

We will be as open as possible about the decisions and actions we take while respecting and upholding confidentiality as required, will make full and fair disclosure of all relevant information to all those who have the right to know. We will be responsible stewards of the SOCIETY’s assets and shall conduct its finances in such a way as to assure appropriate use of funds and accountability to donors.

(Please also refer to the Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code)

We wonder how people who donated $$ to help animals feel about their funds being used by the BC SPCA to hire high-priced lawyers to generate threats and Writs to try to censor an organization that criticizes it? We predict that their donation revenues will suffer.

On an allied topic: the BC SPCA is delinquent in posting its 2003 Annual Financial Statements.

and another one: Hit this link http://www.spca.bc.ca/media/RecordStraight2004_June72004_Press.asp We find it difficult to believe that the BC SPCA can be operating on a breakeven cash basis. It would represent a huge change from 2002, and based on what we know has been going on with them operationally, it seems quite unlikely.
