Coquitlam Councillor Mae Reid, on the SPCA, CBC radio

Mae was the driving force behind having Coquitlam stop contracting with the SPCA in 2002 and build its own (excellent!) shelter.

CBC quoted Mae saying that she got rid of the SPCA in Coquitlam in part because of the info on the AAS web site (she told us that she was deluged with what she called "horror stories" about the SPCA after she started questioning it publicly).

She also said that if the case goes to court it will provide a much needed closer look at the SPCA's operations. She said, "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Also that she hopes that every animal activist group in the province lines up and gets behind this. "This is the chance to get our noses in and see what that organization is doing. "

Mae is only one of many councillors who have found out to their horror and anger what goes on at their local SPCA. Councillors are one of AAS's main sources of evidence should the SPCA force this to court.
