Choklit and Timber: Why I turned to AAS ... *LINK* *PIC*

I knew as a young child that the SPCA saved animals, I knew as a naive adult that the SPCA saved animals, I knew my donation dollars went to the SPCA to save animals and then Choklit and Timber came into my life.

As I drove by these chained, abused and neglected dogs, I knew the SPCA would act quickly once I reported the abuse and that these dogs would be safe very soon.

When I called my local SPCA branch it was explained that a staff member would check on the dogs I had reported. When I called back, I was told the dogs were fine and there was nothing they could do.

This could not be the SPCA that "speaks for those who cannot speak for themselves", not the SPCA who saves animals from abuse and neglect, not the SPCA I had supported for years and not the SPCA whose mandate is to prevent cruelty.

I made more calls to the SPCA and to the head office pleading for assistance and the answer remained the same...we cannot help, they have "food, water and shelter."

(see link for photos of the SPCA's definition of food, water and shelter)

This began my search for alternative assistance for Choklit and Timber and my relationship with AAS.

Because of AAS Choklit is safe and loved and because some kind soul removed Timber he no longer lives in squalor and filth.

Supporting AAS is easy, because I know they work on the animals behalf and will continue to do so.

Thank you AAS for ensuring that those who are dire need now have a second chance to know what being a companion in a loving home means.

Sincerely,
Gail Moerkerken
