$'s cause corruption

Many thanks to Rick Sargent for sharing his philosophy on the subject of Animal Welfare.
It is wonderful to read a letter which so thoroughly explains why the BC SPCA should not in any way be involved in Animal Control.

I agree that Animal Control is not Animal Welfare. Animal Control is to protect the public and other animals from dangerous dogs. Destruction Orders are sought by Animal Control Agencies for this very reason. Destruction orders should not be confused with euthanasia either as many of the dogs who are killed are young and healthy but a danger to others.

The BC SPCA by its name, is the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and that should be its only concern.

The animals obviously should always be the first priority. The mandate of the BC SPCA is to protect animals' from human harm.

The fact that municipalities pay for Animal Control and Animal Welfare is funded by donations should not enter into the equation. Any time a Society entrusted with the mandate to protect is influenced by $'s the only result can be the corruption of the mandate.
