This sounds like incompetence to me

Why did the vet's office not read the same information and warning bells go off for them? Why did this vet not question the results? I don't get how something like this doesn't get noticed by people who are supposed to know what they are doing. This is very scary in my opinion.

How many other cats are misdiagnosed and end up dead as a result of inappropriate blood withdrawal and misdiagnosis? This sounds like incompetence to me.....but perhaps I'm missing something? I don't want to call it something if it's not. Does anyone here work in a vets office or in Central Lab that could explain how something like this could be missed so easily?

Maybe I shouldn't question things but if another vet (and other professionls) immediately said that Riley should be retested....then why did this not happen with the original vet's office? I worry about letting things like this go. Should we not expect the best care for all animals? I understand that mistakes do happen......I sure hope this is a huge lesson to all those involved! I've certainly learned something......

I'm so glad Riley is still alive and that Jean took the time to find alternate living arrangements for Riley and then she even went further and questioned the results! Sounds like one lucky little fellow!

This is the story of Riley, the cat that would have ended up in an SPCA incinerator *PIC*
