Butch to Brady: All it took was a little help from his friends. *PIC*

A Rottweiler was found by the Capital Regional District Pound in Victoria about three months ago and was not claimed.

Butch was about 10 months old, good with kids, dogs and cats but still had much of the puppy behaviour in him, the mouthing, the jumping, all the puppy behaviour that is easier to deal with before they are 90 lbs of happy energy.
Despite his lack of training Butch was still gentle and sweet in nature.

Health concerns made him unadoptable. His eyes both had absolutely awful cases of cherry eye, he was unneutered and his dewclaws were really loose. In many parts of this province Butch would have been euthanised but today I would like to share Butch's happy story.

This sweet dog needed a little help from his friends in rescue and he got it from Greater Victoria Animals' Crusaders and a special volunteer from the CRD who donated as well. Butch was not euthanised. Instead he was neutered, his eyes were corrected and his dewclaws were removed and he was put up for adoption.

But then one eye reverted to it's cherry-eye state after a week. Butch had this eye repaired again and then he waited and waited for a new home. While waiting, both his eyes again popped, why we are not sure, but Butch really needed a loving foster home at this point.

Millie Sargent thankfully volunteered to be Butch's foster mom while he again had his eyes repaired.

As we all know once you promise a special dog a new life you have to follow through...no matter what it takes.
So "Butch" is now in foster care, where he became "Brady" because that is the name that really suits him.

All was going well in Brady's life. He went to the lake, and played with his new Rotti friends, having the most fun time of his life. And then the unthinkable happens - one eye pops again. More surgery to correct it. By now he is part of the foster family's life and they all decide they would like to live together forever.

At last, Brady is happy, healthy and loved in his new home with his new mom, Millie.

All it took was a little help from his friends.
