Big Heart Rescue is a non-profit society which works closely with the community of Bella Bella, a northern isolated First Nations community.

Recently we had the pleasure of being contacted by a caring owner in Bella Bella who wished nothing but the best for Lady, his family's pet companion, who had recently delivered 8 puppies. The guardian wondered how Big Heart Rescue could be of assistance and wished for our organization to be involved in finding loving homes for all of Lady's off spring.

With the support of Pacific Coastal Airlines, Lady and her family were flown to the lower mainland where they are now safe, loved and thriving in an adoring foster home.

When Lady has weaned her youngsters and has returned to optimum health she will be spayed, vaccinated, tattooed and flown back home to her guardians who are anxious for her return.

By developing sterilization, vaccination and medical plans for pet companions of this community, Big Heart Rescue has been blessed to see small but significant inroads being made on behalf of animals on this island who have no access to vet care.

As a result, fewer puppies and kittens are being born, less disease is evident and more residents are requesting assistance from Big Heart Rescue to ensure that their companions are healthy and will not contribute to the over abundance of neglected animals.

With this partnership becoming stronger, Big Heart Rescue envisions healthier and happier pets living in a community that is willing to accept assistance from a group that is miles away, but so willing to care.
