An "electronic conversation" between two real animal welfarists about SPCA "stats"...

Hey S.T. Have you ever read this?
M.W.

"In 2003 the BC SPCA: Rescued 57,000 domestic, farm and wild animals Don't you just love the SPCA co-opting the word "rescue"?? Sticking animals in cells or pens and then killing them or returning them when paid is just about as ridiculous to call "rescue" as it is to call it "animal welfare!"

Responded to nearly 200,000 animal-related calls And told people to phone us re cats! Responded? Give me a break! Told the caller that keeping a dog in a garage is okay!

Reunited thousands of lost animals with their anxious families thousands? Yes, pound contracts for stray dogs, but how many weren't reunited and were killed, that's the only stat that is important.

Found new, loving families for 30,419 homeless animals Loving? When no checks are made? Exactly! I'd like to ask if the number 30,419 includes multiple placements because a dog has been returned and resold several times? Now, now SPCA - that's padding the figures! And if a dog is returned and killed, is that one taken out of the stats? Naughty, naughty SPCA, more padding!

Conducted 9,140 cruelty investigations 25 per day ? But didn't change any laws? No laws keeps the SPCA in work! Drive-bys S.T. We hid and watched them do one once. A person reported that they had witnessed the neighbours dog being beaten with a metal pipe so hard that it couldn't stand up. The SPCA inspector got out their van and without even knocking on the door to speak to anyone, peeked around the side of the house so that they could say they had been there, saw the dog lying in the freezing rain in its own feces and left! We waited for them to leave and then removed the dog. Too funny! This is what the SPCA calls an "investigation"!

Seized 1,223 animals from dangerous or neglectful situations And gave how many back after being paid thousands? And killed how many? And put how many into their cells which are worse than where they came from? And how many died from diseases caught in their dirty facilities?

Rescued 4,603 deer, birds and other wildlife. Does telling someone to drown a trapped raccoon count as a "rescue"? Of course!! Every figure counts!
