Stop West Edmonton Mall from bringing in more animals

I am writing to you one more time to request your help in stopping the West Edmonton Mall (WEM) from bringing any more animals into the shopping centre.

As you already know, the mall announced that they have plans to open a zoo in the mall in 2005 and were looking to acquire sea lions, elephants, zebras, bears and big cats. They have already replaced their dolphin display with sea lions, so time is of the essence. We must to do everything possible to stop them from bringing more animals into the mall.

Your strong response to the last action alert to CAZA helped immensely to set the stage. We now need to take the next step. This time the recipient is the Edmonton city council. It is critical that they understand how WEM's wildlife "collection" reflects on their city.

Please write a short note to the mayor and council of Edmonton letting them know how the keeping of wildlife in a shopping mall reflects on the City's reputation as a tourist destination. For specific strategic reasons, we do not want to request that they take any particular action, simply let them know how the mall's decision to keep wildlife reflects on the City of Edmonton. Once again please bcc (blind copy) your letters to julie@zoocheck.com so that we can track the responses and use them as part of the next stage of our campaign.

Thanks again for your help, we will do everything possible to stop this from going any further, but we need your help.
