I clipped this article from the Vancouver Courier a few weeks back. It's been bothering me since I read it. My father was a member of the K-9 unit years ago and I remember the 2 dogs he had as partners. They went to work with my father during the day and came home to us every night. They came on all holidays...went almost everywhere with us. I can't understand why any police officer would leave their partner in the facility the way it is now for boarding while they go on holiday.

This is absolutely appalling for these dogs. It seems that the police dogs don't receieve any better treatment than the SPCA or city pound dogs.

I simply assumed that these valuable members of our PD would be better taken care of.
