The Dog Bite Rumour: Is the SPCA trying to discredit Amanda Muir?

Recently, two of the news media that have done the most damage to the SPCA by pursuing the Cheech story, CTV and the Delta Leader, were given anonymous tips that Amanda Muir had been bitten on the face so severely by a dog that she needed 30 stitches.

If this were true, it would badly discredit Amanda's credibility with the media as a person who can be trusted to know if a dog is dangerous or not, and by extension, discredit her opinion that Cheech was not dangerous.

Did the SPCA ask Muir if she had been bitten by a dog? If the bite was as severe as the tipster said, she would not be able to hide the evidence.

Of course it didn't, that would not be the SPCA's style. Instead it sent Shawn Eccles, its Chief Animal Protection Officer, to the Delta SPCA to snoop by asking questions of the employees.

Amanda's unblemished face is proof, if that were needed.

Again the SPCA drives stakes through its own heart, shoots itself in the foot, sets its own hair on fire, and generally causes its own damage, by participating in such discreditable hanky-panky. By trying to discredit Muir, all it is going to do is stir the media pot and splash itself again.

The CEO of the BC SPCA has goaded the media so often that he alone can be credited with any financial damage the SPCA has sustained since he became CEO.
