As if being caught by a mudslide weren't horrifying enough....

The SPCA offers to put pets into its "welcoming" prison cells. We have to wonder how many people will do that to their pets?

SPCA Opens Doors to Take In Pets of Families Evacuated in North Vancouver
January 19, 2005. For immediate release. The SPCA is opening its doors to any family affected by the mudslides in North Vancouver who needs temporary care and shelter for their pets. "Many families have been evacuated and may not have a safe place to leave their pets," says Lorie Chortyk, Community Relations Director for the BC SPCA. "We've also heard reports that some people don't want to leave their homes because they don't have arrangements for their animals."

She said the SPCA will provide free care at the West Vancouver shelter and other facilities in the Lower Mainland if the West Vancouver shelter becomes full. Anyone needing assistance is urged to call the SPCA administration office at 604-681-7271.
