Why am I not suprised? After having 16 healthy Mastiff dogs seized on June 30/04, we finially got a Vet report on the dogs that had to be put down while in the Kelowna SPCA's custody. It seems that Omega had been vomiting for 6 days and showed signs of severe dehydration before the vet was called. When seized this healthy 1 yr. old was rated at a 2/5 on the BCS scale - 3 being ideal. This dog was destroyed on the 26th of July - less than a month after the seizure!

Another one of the dogs seized on June 30/04 was Milo - a 6 Mo old male. He was rated at a 2/5 or almost Ideal - reported that he had extensive weight loss - but was still rated at a a 2/5 (how can that be?) but he had a behaviour problem - he didn't like being there! - He was put down on the 26 of July. Two others followed in October.

The SPCA is the worst place for an animal! I would like to see the Special Constables used during this seizure to spend 6 or 8 months locked up under the same conditions - might as well get the Vet to join them!

A sad note to this seizure - all of the 16 dogs have now been disposed of. This not only has destroyed the dogs but taken a family away from a man who loved his animals and breeds them for the love of the breed. They will be missed
