A sanctuary after my own heart, the Equus sanctuary in Ravensdale California is non- adoptive, believing that simply recycling horses to new homes is not addressing the issues of WHY horses NEED new homes.

They are open to the public, providing proactive programs to educate about responsible horse guardianship. The stories of their residents are shocking and appalling, yet they go on all around us daily. Every horse has a story to tell. They are born gentle and willing, it's people who destroy them, use them, abuse them, and pass them down the line that too often ends at the slaughter house.That is their thanks for a life time of serving us - their punishment for not running fast enough, or for hurting themselves trying.
