Cache Creek area resident receives ban on owning livestock
March 7, 2005. For immediate release. A resident living on a rural acreage north of Cache Creek has received a $500 fine and is prohibited from owning livestock for one year after pleading guilty to one count of causing distress to animals under the BC Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

The charge against Leslie Scott Kelley came after SPCA cruelty investigators received a complaint about the welfare of animals on the property on March 23rd 2004. SPCA officers attended the property and returned with a Warrant to Search and removed three animals from distress.

A miniature horse suffering from serious medical issues was surrendered for euthanasia and two burros with grossly neglected, overgrown hooves were taken into SPCA custody. The burros received immediate veterinary care and have since been re-homed by the SPCA.
