Animal Advocates Watchdog

AAS and others have raised all these concerns

The SPCA reminds me of the old-time, top-hatted industrialist - lighting his fat cigar with a hundred dollar bill, with his heel on the neck of the working stiff and his children. The children are the animals the SPCA abuses to enrich itself.

The SPCA is trying to cripple AAS by the tactic of crippling me financially. While it throws around money by the truckload meant for animal welfare, I am forced to use the only asset I have, the equity in my home. The SPCA reminds me of the old-time, top-hatted capitalist - lighting his fat cigar with a hundred dollar bill, with his heel on the neck of the working stiff and his children. The "children" are the animals the SPCA abuses to enrich itself.

I have now given up all my past hopes that the SPCA can be saved from its self-inflicted mortal wounds. It simply cannot be saved when it is controlled by the current board and executive who have put into action all the abuses of the PCA Act that were warned against.

I had naively hoped that BC's animals would be the lucky recipients of province-wide protection and welfare. I wanted so badly for there not to be a patch-work of groups and enforcers as in most other places. It saddens me to have to give up this hope.

It is time for everyone, who sees and understands that all the fears raised in the legislature in 1994 have been realized, in far more frightening ways than even the questioning MLAs could have dreamt, to focus on making the government make the SPCA accountable or take its power away. That is where AAS is going to put its resourses from now on instead of wasting anymore time trying to make the SPCA honest.
