When most of us think of meat animals we think of cows, lambs, pigs, chickens and turkeys (and we hope that groups like PETA are forcing the producers and slaughterers to treat them better so that we can eat them without so much guilt).
But if you count in all the fish, wild birds, snakes, dogs, cats, horses, rodents, starfish and insects that humans eat on one part of the planet or another, billions of animals are killed a day.
All so that we can get quick, tasty protein. We don't need animals to get enough protein, but we like the taste.
We are even willing to trade disease (to ourselves from eating meat), and cruelty (to animals) to get that taste! "Kill 'Em and Grill 'Em" is a barbeque cook book written by songwriter Ted Nugent, and it says it all quite honestly.
When the oceans, and skies, and forests, and plains are stripped of everything edible, all that will be left are the animals that we have chosen to be factory farmed.
Happy Easter meat eaters!
